Q: Will this be a complete restart of the elections process, including petition signature collection?
A: Yes. Due to a number of procedural errors and inconsistencies throughout the election process, along with additional contributing factors that further exacerbated the situation, USG is being required to hold the election anew at the start of autumn semester 2025.
Q: Are first-year students able to run?
A: Yes. As per USG guidelines, all current students are eligible to both run and vote in the election.
Q: Are all teams, despite previous status or outcomes, eligible to run again if they wish?
A: Yes. We are restarting the election process, so any previous outcome or status based upon the Spring 2025 election cycle is now void.
Q: Will ballot initiatives be allowed in the fall election?
A: As concerns about the ballot initiative process have not been expressed or a focus of the review, the previously vetted ballot initiative will be honored and placed on the ballot for voting. Due to the shortened timeline for the fall election, any new ballot initiatives will need to be introduced during the spring election. Only the initiative approved for the Spring 2025 election will appear on the Fall 2025 ballot.
Q: In the SP25 election, a referendum vote occurred to approve the new USG Constitution. Will that be placed on the ballot again?
A: Yes. The referendum vote to approve the new USG Constitution will be placed on the ballot for voting.
Q: What version of the Election Bylaws will be in use for the fall election?
A: USG Election Bylaws will be reviewed for revisions this summer and utilized for the fall election.
Q: What method will be used to update the Election Bylaws?
A: Student Life will work with representatives from USG, including the Judicial Panel, to review the Election Bylaws for edits.
Q: How will the undergraduate student body be informed about the opportunity to run and/or vote?
A: A communication plan regarding the election and timeline will be developed.
Q: What will be the term of office for the students elected in the fall?
A: Spring 2026 elections will be held as usual to get the normal USG timeline back on track. The term of office for students elected in the fall will end when the new administration is inaugurated in the spring.
Q: On what timeline will the fall election process occur?
A: The timeline for the fall 2025 election is proposed to be as follows:
