USG is excited to introduce our 2017-2018 Senior Staff! Each of these individuals are extraordinarily dedicated to serving the student body of Ohio State and will be working hard to make sure the student voice is heard!
The Chief of Staff is tasked with ensuring that USG accomplishes its goals by facilitating communication, functionality, transparency, and fluidity throughout the organization. The Chief of Staff also oversees all functions of USG to guarantee that it is a productive organization that works effectively and intentionally for the student body.

Samer Abusway is a fourth year Computer Science & Engineering major from Strongsville, Ohio. Samer has previously served as the Director of Academic Affairs within USG as well as a Deputy Director in the same committee. Outside of USG, Samer is involved in the Honors Program as well as serving as an Academic Path Peer in the College of Engineering. On campus Samer can commonly be found in the Ohio Union or at his office hours listed below.

The Deputy Chief of Staff is tasked with making sure that Cabinet meetings run smoothly and ensuring that there is fluid and continued communication between Directors and Senior Staff.

Shamina is a third year Management Information Systems major from Cleveland, Ohio. Shamina has previously served as the Director of the Student Affairs Committee within USG. Outside of USG, Shamina is involved in the Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club (BUCC), the Senate Fiscal Committee, and University Senate. On campus Shamina can commonly be found in the USG Office in the Keith B. Key Leadership Center. She urges anyone to come by during her office hours.

Senior Policy Advisor
Michael Watson is a third year Public Affairs major from Dublin, Ohio. Michael has previously served as a Liaison and an Academic Affairs Committee Representative within USG. Outside of USG, Michael is involved in Mount Leadership Scholars, Broomball Officiating, and TEDxOhioStateUniversity. On campus Michael can commonly be found at any Chinese restaurant on High Street. Lastly, Michael will conclude any conversation with the iconic phrase, “Go Bucks!”

Senior Director of Operations
Zawwar Khan is a fourth year Mechanical Engineering major from McLean, Virginia. Zawwar has previously served as a Committee Representative in the Student Affairs Committee as well as both Deputy Director and Director of the Outreach Committee within USG. Outside of USG, Zawwar is involved in BuckeyeThon, Humanitarian Engineering Scholars, and Design for 90. On campus, Zawwar can commonly be found at Sicilia’s.

Senior Counselor to the President
Sara Spain is a fourth year Public Affairs major from Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to being appointed to this position Sara served as an Off-Campus Senator in the General Assembly. Outside of USG, Sara is involved in the Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Camp Kesem. On campus Sara can commonly be found studying at Rohr Cafe in Mason Hall.

The Senior Counselor to the Vice President works with the General Assembly side of student government. This role includes working with the senators to encourage outreach to ensure that senators are known and accessible to their constituents. In addition, it is the Senior Counselor’s role to assist the Vice President in whatever way she needs.

Tony Buss is a fifth year English major from Apple Creek, Ohio. Prior to being appointed to his current position, Tony served two years as the Director of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee within USG. The CFO’s role involves handling USG's share of the Student Activity Fee, a fee that every undergraduate student is required to pay, managing Coke Grant money that our organization receives, and overseeing the allocation of this money to outside student organizations, philanthropies, events, scholarships, and more. It is the CFO’s job to keep track of students' tuition dollars and ensure that this money is spent fairly and ethically.

Connor Dorony is a third year Accounting major from Ocean Township, New Jersey. Connor has previously served as a North Campus Senator within USG. Outside of USG, Connor is involved in the Theta Chi Fraternity. On campus Connor can commonly be found at the Ohio Union or wandering around the Fisher College of Business.

The Deputy CFO acts as the chair of the Allocations Committee of General Assembly, which oversees the USG budget and funding for student organizations.

Jacob Catron is a third year Accounting major from Ontario, Ohio. Prior to being appointed to this position Jacob served as both a Committee Representative and a Deputy Director in the Student Affairs Committee. On campus Jacob can commonly be found in Schoenbaum Hall or at Rohr Cafe.

The Chair of the Undergraduate Caucus leads the undergraduate delegation to University Senate where faculty, students, and administrators legislate on behalf of the Board of Trustees. Responsibilities of this position include coordinating committee representatives to execute USG policy goals and advocating for students through the shared governance system.

Mario Belfiglio is a fourth year Biology major from Shaker Heights, Ohio. Mario has previously served as the Vice Chair Academics within University Senate as well as two terms as a Natural & Mathematical Sciences Senator, his second as Parliamentarian in the General Assembly. Outside of USG, Mario is involved in the Honors Program and the Mortar Board Senior Class Honorary. On campus Mario can commonly be found at CBEC.
