The role of the President of the Undergraduate Student Government is to advocate for Ohio State Students in the local, state, and federal governments in higher-education policy while representing all 52,349 undergraduate students in academic, financial, and policy decisions at the Ohio State University.
Gerard Basalla is the USG President for the 2016-2017 term.
Gerard is a fourth year Political Science and Strategic Communications major from Parma, Ohio. This will be Gerard's 4th year in USG. In his first year, Gerard served as a USG Intern and as a member of the Outreach Committee. During his second year, Gerard served as a Social and Behavioral Sciences Senator in the General Assembly while also acting as a Deputy Director in the Student Affairs Committee. Finally, in his third year, Gerard served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of USG. Outside of USG Gerard is heavily involved in the Ohio Union Activities Board (OUAB), the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, University Senate, and the 2016 Homecoming Court. On campus, you can commonly find Gerard in the Ohio Union.
