GA Leadership

The leadership of the General Assembly is made up of the nine members of the Steering Committee (excluding a Cabinet Director). These positions include the three officers: Speaker, Parliamentarian, and Secretary, as well as seven Legislative Coordinators who chair the following committees: Academic Affairs, Black Caucus, Governmental Relations, Health and Safety, Justice and Equity, Student Affairs, and Sustainability. These ten positions are elected at the first session of the General Assembly.

Speaker of the General Assembly

The Speaker is responsible for chairing all meetings of the General Assembly and Steering Committee. They also serve as the Chief Spokesperson of the General Assembly as well as the liaison to the Executive and Judicial branches.

Parliamentarian of the General Assembly

The Parliamentarian serves as the Chair of the Oversight Committee. They are responsible for interpreting the governing documents and shall advise the Speaker in ensuring the meetings are run in compliance with parliamentary procedure. The Parliamentarian will also serve as Chair of the General Assembly in the absence of the Speaker.

Secretary of the General Assembly

The Secretary is responsible for the organization of the General Assembly. They are responsible for maintaining all attendance records, meeting minutes, and legislation. They shall archive the General Assembly's records at the end of each session.

Academic Affairs Legislative Coordinator

The Academic Affairs Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to affordability, advising, STEP, libraries, SEIs, and more.

Black Caucus Legislative Coordinator

The Black Caucus Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Black Caucus Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to issues effecting Black students and connects the General Assembly with the Undergraduate Black Caucus in the executive branch of USG.

Governmental Relations Legislative Coordinator

The Governmental Relations Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Governmental Relations Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to civic engagement, voter accessibility, relationships with elected officials, and more.

Health and Safety Legislative Coordinator

The Health and Safety Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Health and Safety Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to the health, well-being, and safety of all Ohio State students.

The Justice and Equity Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Justice and Equity Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to the safety and success of all students, particularly marginalized groups.

The Student Affairs Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Student Affairs Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to residence life, dining, off-campus initiatives, and more.

The Sustainability Legislative Coordinator serves as Chair of the Sustainability Committee and coordinates all policy-making efforts pertaining to climate change, waste reduction, habitat loss, and more.
