Constitution Review Committee
Spearheading the project was Senator Jason Parris. Parris and his committee met six times over a period of four weeks and rewrote the entire USG Constitution due to an overwhelming amount of overlap and grammatical errors in the current constitution. The following are some of the more notable changes:
Added an independent Press Secretary to ensure impartiality
Clerk of Courts to be independent and chosen by SUG Student Judicial Panel
USG Student Judicial Panel now has more autonomy to create standing rules that must, however, be approved by USG Senate as a checks-and-balances system
Clarified President-Senate Roles/Relationship:
President can no longer debate freely during Senate sessions or introduce new legislation
President need not have Cabinet structure approved by Senate, though Cabinet Directors are still subject to Senate approval
