  • As a senator I think it is extremely important to be accessible to North Campus residents. Moreover, I would first like to keep students updated using the internet, such as a Facebook group, website, or bi-weekly or monthly email update. Using these tools will make it easy for students to have their opinions heard as well as connect with other students on North Campus. Next I would like to work with the different hall council’s because I believe to be a successful Senator, each residence hall should be treated on an individual basis, each with their unique issues. I would also like to work with the various North Campus scholars group as they form their own communities within our larger community. Lastly, I will attend various events put on by the different residence halls, but also plan events for the North Campus as a whole to come together and enjoy.
  • Coming to Ohio State I felt slightly overwhelmed as many first year students do, but nevertheless I wanted to continue on with my work in student government as I had in prior years. I first became involved in Cabinet and then was accepted into the First Year Internship Program. As I attended various USG meeting throughout the week I realized that I wanted to become a senator and have a voice in legislation. Then during winter quarter I had the opportunity to alternate for a current senator and had my first experience of what Senate is really like. Although there are accusations that being a part of USG, and more specifically Senate, is all about resume padding, I understand the time, dedication and commitment that it takes to be a Senator and can honestly say I am passionate about Undergraduate Student Government. As a Senator I would be representing both residents of North Campus as well as the Undergraduate Student Body and take the role very seriously and not just for my resume.
  • As can be seen in question number 2, I think there is definitely room for USG to improve in student relations. Throughout the year, USG is constantly working for the good of the students, yet there are still many people unsatisfied with the group. I would like to encourage more student involvement in evaluating the issues on campus. For example, I feel like some students are hesitant to attend the weekly cabinet because they do not know what to expect, so they do not get a chance to get their voice heard. I would like to see USG create a way, like a drop box in the dining halls or a place on the USG website, for students to write down any ideas they have. The more students feel that their ideas will be heard and respected, the closer USG will be able to work with the student body.

  • My least favorite day of the year is January 2nd. After a few months of one holiday after another, January 2nd marks the end of the fun and the beginning the dreary, cold winter season.
