Taylor Stepp is a fourth-year studying Public Affairs, Russian, Public Finance and Communications from Jackson, OH and was elected to his second-term in 2013. In Taylor's inaugural address he vowed to make the campus area safer, to focus on the rising cost of college and to increase transparency in USG.
In 2010, Taylor was a long-time alternate for the Social and Behavioral Sciences Senator and then won election to become the only first-year in the USG Senate representing the John Glenn School of Public Affairs. In 2011, Taylor successfully lead the marketing efforts for Nick Messenger's USG campaign which won over 50% of the votes in that election. Taylor was also re-elected to serve as the John Glenn School of Public Affairs Senator and he served as the Vice Chair of the Policy and Governance Committee in the USG Senate. Taylor was elected in 2012 in his first term as USG President in a historic election which garnered the most votes in 30 years. In his first term, the City of Columbus and The Ohio State University reached a joint-jurisdiction agreement, the Buckeye Road Trip began, the Semesters Appeals Board was established, CABS East Residential routes were expanded to late nights on the weekends and a new meal plan was installed to mitigate student cost.
Taylor was re-elected in 2013 and became only the 4th two-term USG President in the organizations esteemed history. He has returned for another year to work on the "big things" that USG has neglected in the past. Maintaining and growing relationships, the cost of college, safety and USG transparency are listed as his major priorities in his second-term.
